Join us to help grieving children and families who have experienced the impact of domestic violence find hope.

OFFERING HOPE WHEN IT’S NEEDED MOST

Inspired by personal tragedy, Dr. Linda Olson offers families & children the keys to overcoming Childhood Domestic Violence – a national crisis affecting the lives of 1 out of every 7 people in the U.S.

Introducing the Project Hope Bear: Trauma, Grief and Loss Teddy Bear– to let children who have lost a loved one to domestic violence or witnessed violence know that we care.

Studies have shown that teddy bears reduce a sense of loneliness and anxiety in children who have experienced trauma, loss and grief.

The research done by Dr. Kenneth Tai and collaborators at the National University of Singapore show that socially isolated children benefited from touching and holding a teddy bear and expressed more positive emotions.

KNOWING SOMEONE CARES
CAN BREAK THE CYCLE

Research indicates that individuals who experience Childhood Domestic Violence (CDV) – living in a household where there is violence between their parents or violence toward a parent – are dramatically affected for the rest of their lives.

In 2016, more than 1800 women were murdered by men and 85% of them were murdered by a man they knew. Most domestic violence murders occur in the home and sometimes children are present or are witness to the death.

According to UNICEF, growing up with domestic violence is “the single biggest predictor of children becoming either perpetrators or victims of domestic violence later in life.” In addition, those who experience CDV are six times more likely to commit suicide and 50% more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol. Together, we can let the children who experience CDV know that someone cares – and we CAN help them break this destructive cycle.
