Our mission is to provide hope and healing to children and families who have witnessed violence or lost a loved one to domestic violence.

OFFERING HOPE WHEN IT’S NEEDED MOST

Inspired by personal tragedy, Dr. Linda Olson offers families & children the keys to overcoming Childhood Domestic Violence – a national crisis affecting the lives of 1 out of every 7 people in the U.S.

Introducing the Project Hope Bear: Trauma, Grief and Loss Teddy Bear– to let children who have witnessed violence between parents or caregivers, or lost a loved one to domestic violence know that we care.

Many studies have shown that teddy bears reduce a sense of depression, loneliness and anxiety in children who have experienced trauma, grief and loss and build resiliency.

The research done by Dr. Kenneth Tai and collaborators at the National University of Singapore show that traumatized children benefited from touching and holding a teddy bear and expressed more positive emotions, reduced negative emotions and fostered resiliency.

KNOWING SOMEONE CARES
CAN BREAK THE CYCLE

Research indicates that individuals who experience Childhood Domestic Violence (CDV) – living in a household where there is violence between their parents or violence toward a parent – are dramatically affected for the rest of their lives.

Each year over 1.6 million people worldwide lose their life to violence. 1 in 7 children grow up witnessing violence.

According to UNICEF, growing up with domestic violence is “the single biggest predictor of children becoming either perpetrators or victims of domestic violence later in life.” In addition, those who experience CDV are six times more likely to commit suicide and 50% more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol. Together, we can let the children who experience CDV know that someone cares – and we CAN help them break this destructive cycle.
